The same for everyone.
High or low we'll all rest
Six feet from the sun.
Recalled to the silence,
Reclaimed by the earth,
Part of the endless cycle
In the clay that gave us birth.

We'll make believe it's summer
As we crunch through fallen leaves.
December's snow is waiting
To blanket empty streets.
We all play the same game,
Pretend it won't be us.
We get to choose our fairytales and wait our turn
To return to dust.
